I fell in love with painting at the age of 15. As a first job, it wasn’t bad – the freedom, being outside in the summer, and the joy of working with a great team. I took to it quickly and moved up fast becoming one of the most valued painters in the company. I became the “go to guy” for high end projects where quality and accuracy were of the utmost importance. This brought me all over the Metro Detroit area and allowed me to experience every single facet of painting from residential repaints and new construction to industrial finishes in factories and everything in between.

I was fascinated with the endless variety of products for each specific application and how each performed differently. I was also fascinated with the inner workings of the painting industry in general. But more than all of this, I loved bringing joy into the lives of customers by transforming their spaces into something they truly loved. Throughout my painting experience I took notice of the operations of not only the company I worked for but others I was exposed to and noticed a common theme throughout the construction industry – poorly vetted labor and a general lack of quality. There was also a certain lack of professionalism and customer service. I believed it could be done better.

In 2014 when I founded Metro Paint Group, it was with a vision of a team of highly skilled painters who loved what they did and were just as passionate about being good to people as I was. That is exactly what we have grown into today. But this team of painters is more than just a crew. They are my family and I care for each of them. When I’m not working, I spend my time with my beautiful wife, Monique, and our three children, Caleb, Eliyanah, and Isaiah. My faith is very important to me and I attend Watermark Church in New Baltimore. When time allows I enjoy a nice game of golf or playing guitar.

My position at Metro Paint Group is nothing short of a blessing from God. I grew up watching my Dad paint and spending time on jobs since I was old enough to walk. The first time I had a brush in my hand I was 5 years old. From 2014-2017 I spent my summers working at the same company my Dad was with to begin my journey to where I am now.

The day I graduated high school I immediately went full time there and that’s where Dan and my paths crossed a few times. I have 9 years of full time experience with the last 6 being with MPG. When Dan offered me a job it didn’t just come with a better financial opportunity, it was a position where I could grow. Dan and I worked side by side for years and during that time I learned every aspect of painting. From the techniques of how to paint a room properly and efficiently, to now being able to run jobs on my own with a crew of workers to work side by side with. I’m now able to look at my crew the way Dan did with me. To nurture and teach them to be the best painters they can be while creating lasting relationships with each other.

My painting journey began with working with family. Now I have a work family. We may work with each other everyday, but we also share our lives with each other everyday. It’s impossible to spend this much time with someone else to not care about them.I truly care for them and their families and only want the best things life has to offer them. This deep feeling of care for my coworkers isn’t exclusive to just them though. Every customer that chooses to allow MPG help bring to life their visions or continue to care for the houses they love is greatly appreciated. The quality of care taken on each job is a testament to our love for the craft, and our gratitude to our customers. To which I have to say we really do get blessed with the best customers.

The main reason I like working at Metro Paint Group is that it is work I can “hang my hat on,” that means, it is work I can be proud of and I feel accomplished seeing the customers happy. I’m not one who necessarily works for money or status, I enjoy work where I can put a smile on people’s faces and make their day by providing an exceptional paint job. Painting with Metro Paint Group is a blessing I praise God for everyday. Metro Paint Group provides me with the tools, time and training to perfect the trade, this allows me to live out my goal of providing exceptional work, allowing me to bring happiness to the customers. The other reason working with MPG is great, is the people I work with are some of the most hardworking, dedicated and friendliest coworkers this guy has ever had. I look forward to waking up everyday and going to work with these extraordinary people. Being part of a crew that gets along so well together adds to the capacity of being able to do a good day’s work. Metro Paint Group is a great place to hang your hat on.

I enjoy working at MPG because I feel a sense of companionship with my coworkers. We have great conversations, tell jokes, and feel more like a family than coworkers. I like painting and fixing houses. It makes me very happy knowing that this is someone’s home and I get to make it more beautiful.
